THE RENAISSANCE INSTITUTE
For the past two years I have been praying and planning how Renaissance Church will seek to not only raise up new leaders, but equip the entire church for the work of the ministry (Eph 4:11ff.). Many days of dreaming and late nights talking with members and leaders within Renaissance gave birth to what we will launch this coming Fall: the beta version of The Renaissance Institute.
From the infancy stages of Renaissance, our vision has always been to see God’s glory go public as we grow into Christ’s likeness while we live out the Great Commission (GLORY::GROWTH::GREAT COMMISSION). The Institute endeavors to keep this at the forefront.
The Renaissance Institute’s purpose is not to make the church ingrown, but to make her more beautiful as she beholds God’s glory. And by His grace, God will empower – through the Institute – Renaissance to live out the Great Commission in all she does.
Since all members of Renaissance Church are at different stages in their journey with Jesus, there will be multiple tracks to choose from. Each track reflects one of our five identities. All tracks will be offered every season.
- 101: Community
- 201: Confession
- 301: Care/Counsel
- 101: Bible Interpretation & Application
- 201: Spiritual Disciplines
- 301: Doctrine & Theology
- 101: Whole Gospel
- 201: Whole Vocation
- 301: Whole World
- 101: Everyday Scattered
- 201: Sunday Gathered
- 301: Nature, The Arts, Music, & Literature
- 101: Theology of Mercy
- 201: Serving the Poor/Homeless
- 301: Community Development
For the beta version of The Institute, we will only offer the 101 courses. As it grows, Renaissance will add in the 201 and 301 courses. The cost per semester is $25. Anyone who is not able to cover the cost can apply for a scholarship through Renaissance Church.
I want to thank a few people that have made this a reality for our church plant in Pittsburgh. To my wife, Lauren, and our dear friend, Alex Jovanis: thank you for all of your critique and corrections in the proposal. To Daniel Hurst and Pastor Jesse, I praise God for your hearts that listened to my ideas – even the bad ones – and your hard work in developing the curriculum for the Institute. Thank you to Tom Binkowski and Pastor Kyle for your words of affirmation and encouragement throughout the last two years. And to all of the members of Renaissance Church, I thank God for your desire to grow deeper in your love for Jesus and love for others. It brings me great joy that you would follow me as I follow Christ. I look forward to this next season of deep growth for our church.
